I was 36, married, father of 4, and my doctor told me I was morbidly obese; I lived with that and did nothing about it until July 4th, 2020.
Nobody would call me an athlete; everyone just thought of me as the fun pudgy guy. On July 4th, amid a pandemic and stay-at-home orders in California, I woke up with the idea, “if I didn’t get healthy, I wasn’t gonna live long enough to see my kids have kids,” and that idea changed everything.
It was the first time I put on my borrowed running shoes to go around my block in my neighborhood at my wife's shock. One block turned into two blocks, which turned into a mile, then a 5K, and more.
When I picked up a Chopper, everything went to the next level and started me on the path toward IRONMAN 2021 in Arizona.
